1961

INDUSTRIA GALYCAS, S.L. starts its activity in Ribera de Deusto, Bilbao, as an industrial operation dedicated to the thermal treatment of steels and metals, and wire drawing and manufacturing.

1964

INDUSTRIA GALYCAS, S.A moves to its current location at the Gamarra Industrial Estate in Vitoria, then changing its name to its current denomination of INDUSTRIAS GALYCAS, S.A.

1992

INDUSTRIAS GALYCAS, S.A. is acquired by ENSIDESA (Empresa Nacional Siderúrgica).

1997

The CSI is privatised under the name of ACERALIA, with the participation of the business groups ARISTRAIN and ARBED, to make it one of Europe’s largest steel groups.

2002

In February, the companies USINOR (from France), ARBED (from Luxembourg) and ACERALIA (from SPAIN) create ARCELOR, as the world’s leading steel industry.

2004

Companhía Previdente, Sociedade de Controle de Participaçoes Financieras, S.A. acquires 100% of the share capital of Industrias Gálycas S.A. from ARCELOR. With this purchase, Companhía Previdente builds up a major group of wire-drawing companies, together with Sociedade Industrial de Trefilaría, S.A. (Socitrel) and Emesa-Trefilería,S.A. Subsequently, in 2005 Italcables Spa was added to this group of companies.
